This is one of my favorite pieces because it touches on current event very personal to me. Earlier this year when my sister, Adi Topolsoky walked into Footlocker to purchase a pair and ask the store celrk if they had Delle Donne Women's basketball shoes, the man responded with, "I'd rather watch paint dry than women's basketball." This was a very crushing and innaprpriate statement both her and her father who was with Adi at the time. In response to this negative experienced, Adi wrote an article about her thoughts and feelings, but also addressing the value of women's sports as a whole. Her moving words reached thousands internationally and really brought me tremendous pride for my sister. As a result, I chose to make this. It is graphic design work intentionally to mimic how her story spread all throughout the media. This piece reflects the story itself but also represents this young girls voice and activism for women and their role in sports. May we all learn and be inspired by Adi.
